What a night! The night featured not one, but two headliners, complemented by an amazing support band. What more could you possibly want? Kicking the night off early with a crushing set of high-octane rock goodness were Rubikon. With the band hitting the stage just after the doors opening, there was a surprising amount of people there to see them do their thing. And those lucky, lucky people were rewarded for their punctuality with a cracking show from Rubikon.
It would be easy to think that the headliners would struggle to follow an opening act as good as Rubikon, but tonight, the Newcastle crowd were about to have their socks well and truly rocked off as Michael Monroe appeared on stage, having clambered off a stack of speakers with a fan in hand and looking every bit the rockstar that he is. An entrance that gave a taste of things to come.
With the new album Outerstellar claiming the NUMBER ONE spot in the Official Charts' Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart, Michael was clearly on cloud nine with the news as he proudly shared it with the fans. It is really no surprise that the album did so well, as it is so crammed full of rock goodness that it is practically bursting at the seams.

Opening the set with Dead, Jail or Rock n Roll, it was clear that the flamboyant frontman's voice was as strong as ever, and his stage acrobatics were on top form with plenty of jumping around and even the splits at one point, showing off his performative prowess.
Getting down with the audience on the front row, Michael is always keen to connect with his fans, and that hasn't changed one bit, much to the audience's delight. There were plenty of classics, including Motorvatin' and Boulevard of Broken Dreams, as well as a good mix of songs from the chart-topping album. With Rockin Horse, Shinola and Disconnected all getting a rapturous reception from the crowd.
An impressive show from a band and singer whose influence on the genre is immeasurable, and the fans that came out to see them really did get their money's worth and then some.

Night was still young as Michael Monroe left the stage, making way for Buckcherry, who picked up the rock 'n' roll baton and ran with it. Not letting the energy that Michael had built up dissipate, the band got right down to business with a slightly shorter set than Michael, just nine songs opening up with Lit Up.
The fans got into the groove with Roar Like Thunder and So Hott, with the band doing a grand job and giving the fans a short but sweet show with heart-pounding drum work and blistering guitars creating a wall of sound that sounded great.
The tour continues with Glasgow tonight (1st of March) and closes in Brighton on the 8th. This is definitely a show you don't want to miss, and if you are lucky enough to have tickets, be sure to get there early.
