1.2M STREAMS AND RISING: SAM SCHERDEL CONFIRMS LIVE NATION UK TOUR AND SXSW SHOWCASE AS NORTH OF ENGLAND STAR TAKES ‘SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE’ GLOBAL
South Yorkshire singer-songwriter Sam Scherdel continues his unstoppable rise with the announcement of new international and UK live dates, including an official showcase run at SXSW in Austin, Texas, as well as his ongoing Live Nation-presented UK Spring Tour.
The breakthrough moment comes following the viral success of his latest single “Somewhere in the Middle”, which recently featured on ITV’s hit show Love Island and has now surpassed 1.2 million streams on Spotify - a number that continues to climb week by week.
With labels approaching the artist on both sides of the Atlantic, between 12–18 March, Scherdel will head to Austin, Texas, where he will represent the North of England at SXSW, performing a series of official showcases at the world-renowned music conference - a major milestone for the rising songwriter and a key moment in taking his music to a global stage.
The news follows a remarkable year for the South Yorkshire-born artist, whose soaring ballad of love, compromise and connection first exploded on TikTok - gaining over one million views in just four days - before crossing into the mainstream. From US television interest to label conversations and national radio spins across BBC Introducing, Radio X and Absolute Radio, the momentum behind Sam continues to build.
“Things are moving so fast right now – it’s honestly surreal,” Sam says. “From the song taking off online, to hearing it on Love Island, and now heading to SXSW to represent the North of England… it’s something I never imagined when I first started writing these songs.
"Getting to play Austin and then come straight back into this UK tour feels incredible. It really feels like this is just the beginning.”
The tour marks Sam’s first national run with backing from global live music powerhouse Live Nation, bringing his powerful live show to audiences across the UK before concluding with a hometown celebration in Sheffield.
With tickets already selling fast, the shows promise the kind of intimate, emotionally charged performances that have helped transform Scherdel from a regional favourite into one of the UK’s most exciting rising songwriters.

“This new chapter feels full of possibility,” Sam adds. “The shows, the songs, the people connecting with the music — that’s why I started doing this. Taking the music to America and then bringing it back home to the UK feels like the perfect next step.”
Recorded at Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios with producer Colin Elliot (Richard Hawley, Paul Weller), Somewhere in the Middle is the lead single from Scherdel’s forthcoming EP Boy Who Fell to Earth - a collection exploring love, loss and the spaces in between.
