ADAI SONG
The Bloom Project

Picture
It is an exciting time for Adai Song (a.k.a. EDM persona ADÀI) as she prepares to release her groundbreaking 2025 album, 'The Bloom Project'. It is a piece of work that sees Adai reimagine classic Chinese music through a contemporary electronic lens. Taking advantage of being based in both New York City and Beijing, Song blends Pan-Asian musical roots with modern production techniques to create unique a sound that has seen the singer songwriter, producer and DJ build a career with those contrasting influences very much at the heart of what she does.  A Recording Academy member and NYFA-supported artist, she is also a faculty member at Berklee NYC, mentoring the next generation of musicians while continuing to push her own artistic boundaries.

With the 'The Bloom Project', Adia gives the early 20th century Shanghai fusion of Cinese folk and Western jazz (shidaiqu) a feminist reinterpretation. Adai takes historical melodies and transforms them  into modern anthems by cleverly mixing EDM and traditional Chinese instruments with rap and house beats across the eight tracks on the album. A few of the highlights include 'A Lost Singer' where piano and erhu work together to convey self-determination, and 'Make Way' which fuses pipa, gongs, koto and synths to turn a 1940's pop classic into a 2025 anthem of female agency. Song continues the blend of heritage sounds and innovation by layering traditional instruments with electronic textures to create something very contemporary, something you can hear on tracks such as 'Carmen 2025' and 'Wild Thorny Molihua'.

The album was produced and mixed with a team of Berklee alumni and engineered with contributions from Grammy-winning and nominated producers, including Zach Cooper and Ian Kimmel. Mastering was handled by Rachel Alina, herself a Berklee faculty member. Spanning the United States, Asia, Europe and South America this international collaboration has created a truly global sound.

The Bloom Project has already achieved recognition in the industry, have been submitted for consideration in the 2025 Grammy Awards in the “Best Global Music Album” category. The first round of voting has concluded, and official nominations will be announced on the 7th of November. The nomination underscores Adai Song’s role in redefining cultural boundaries, turning historical Chinese music into contemporary expressions of identity and empowerment.

Adai continues to solidify her position as a major voice in global music, with millions of streams across China and internationally as well as appearances on charts and playlists worldwide not to mention the many collaborations with major labels like SONY/ATV, UMG and Tencent Music Entertainment. 'The Bloom Project' is set to further cement her reputation and offer listeners a very rare blend of tradition, innovation and artistic vision.
