There’s something about Akira Sky’s music that feels like a late-night voicemail you’re not sure you should leave, but do anyway. Her new single, Block My Number, captures that exact feeling — heavy, unfiltered, and a little reckless in the best way.

Raised in LA and now based in Brooklyn, Akira’s journey as a singer, songwriter, producer, and musician hasn’t followed anyone else’s script. She started writing songs in elementary school, played iconic stages while still a teen, and studied at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, not to be polished, but to sharpen her edges. Her sound doesn’t sit neatly in one category. It blends pop with flashes of alt-rock and dreamlike textures, all tied together by lyrics that don’t shy away from the mess.

The track unfolds slowly, built on tension and space, with Akira’s voice rising and falling like she’s working something out in real time. The video, filmed around Manhattan and Brooklyn, leans into that energy. Directed by Luiza Botelho and featuring Pablo Morais, it feels less like a performance and more like a confession.

There’s no neat bow at the end, and that’s the point. Akira Sky isn’t offering clean answers. She’s making space for all the emotions we’re usually told to get over. And with her debut EP on the way, that space is only getting wider.
