Aleksandra Picariello
Don’t Fly Away

Picture
There’s a tension that runs through “Don’t Fly Away” it isn't necessarily loud or dramatic, just there in the way each word seems to wrestle with itself. Written in the haze that follows the end of something that never felt quite right, the track captures that strange split between clarity and longing. You know it had to end, but that doesn’t stop the ache.

This is the latest release from Aleksandra Picariello, a Boston-based composer and songwriter who builds songs the way a filmmaker might score a scene, layering movement, conflict, small shifts in emotion. With a background in film scoring and a sound that moves between orchestral indie pop and darker alt-rock edges, there’s a deliberate honesty in the work. Aleksandra doesn’t try to smooth the emotional edges, it's that which makes Alexandra's writing so meaningful.
Picture
“Don’t Fly Away” sounds like unexpectedly having to sort through memories way too soon. It’s equal parts self-awareness and stubborn hope, grief and recognition. No perfect metaphors, no tidy phrasing. Aleksandra captures that bare, complicated moment where healing hasn’t quite started, but the decision to walk away has been made.

There is real depth, emotional connection and a deep understanding of what makes a human, human. But with all that aside it is a great track that you should definitely check out.
