Amelie
Mumma (Luis Almau Remix)

Indie singer songwriter Amelie has returned with a stunning new remix of her track 'Mumma', bringing renowned Spanish producer Luis Almau on board to reimagine the original. The original version was a celebration of Amelie's vocal and songwriting ability, with a reggae-inspired groove and funky guitar work that really worked together perfectly.

Luis Almau has taken the song to a different level altogether, with a club vibe that opens the song up to a whole new audience. The thumping bass really makes you want to move, taking the original Latin rhythms and taking them into electronic territory; Luis really did a great job of keeping enough of the original in there to keep this very much an Amelie track.

The vocals are still the main focus of the mix, but the instrumentals and synth work give it a fresh, upbeat feel that is really uplifting. From a lyrical perspective the song explores the relationship between a mother and child, and the new remix definitely feels like a joyous celebration of that.

Amelie has already built up a sizeable following with a steady run of releases, and the addition of this version of Mumma to her catalogue shows that her music can take many directions. Something that we look forward to hearing more of in the future.

Released ahead of Mother's Day in the UK, this feels like the perfect time to release a song that celebrates all that the relationship between mother and child entails. The song is available for you to check out right now, so be sure to give it a spin.
