About Any Young Mechanic

Taking their name from a line in “Hooray For Hollywood”—inspired by its jarring use in Robert Altman’s film The Long Goodbye—Any Young Mechanic bring an aptly cinematic quality to their music. The Tarntanya/Adelaide five-piece blend classical training, DIY indie sensibilities, and modern UK experimental influences into a widescreen acoustic soundscape. Having built a fierce reputation on the road before ever officially releasing music—including becoming the first band to play Reading & Leeds Festival without a single released track—the group continues to solidify their status as one of contemporary folk's most compelling live acts. Their debut album The Modern Shoe Is Ruining The Foot was released in June and drew praise across the board including CLASH, NME, The Independent, Wonderland and The Line of Best Fit.
