Rust Mountain (Monochrome Piano Version)

Picture
Paul Terry makes a triumphant return with his post rock project Aptøsrs, releasing the latest track Rust Mountain (Monochrome Piano Version). Having released over 600 tracks since starting his indie label SkyBabyRecords, you can be assured that you are in safe hands Paul takes you on a musical journey. A journey that started in the most unlikely of places having been inspired by the visuals of Takashi Yamazaki's film, Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color. Taking the idea of translating black and white in to sound, Paul Terry ran with that concept to create a cinematic soundscape that, despite it's simplicity, manages to draw you and it is that stripped back sound that keeps your attention.

With a career that stretches back over a quarter of a century and having become a permanent part of the British Library's Sound & Moving Image collection, Paul Terry knows a thing or two about breathing life in to his music and with the help of longtime collaborators Adam Noble (Biffy Clyro, Don Broco, Paul McCartney) and the Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Robin Schmidt (Wolf Alice, Pixies, Royal Blood), he has done exactly that on Rust Mountain.

This is a very accomplished piece, the stripped back style and the use of the lack of distraction to help the listener hyperfocus on each note that is played and is allowed to resonate rather than being drown out, really does play right in to the translation of black and white that Paul Terry set out to achieve. There is no doubt that once you hear it, you will want to hear more.

Rust Mountain (Monochrome Piano Version) is available right now. If you enjoyed this release, and I am sure you will, you can also take yourself on a musical journey by checking out Paul's debut album Elders under the Aptøsrs moniker.
