Artist Spotlight: Discovering Your Next Favourite Blues, Indie, and Metal Obsession

By David Weddle
Exploring the raw talent and resonant stories of the independent music scene.
Today we are shining a light on three phenomenal new discoveries that completely throw out clinical, over-polished production in favor of pure sonic force: Johnny Planet, A Days Wait, and Parham Gharavaisi.

Independent blues-rock artist Johnny Planet,  has been making music for many years, carefully honing his craft and his new single, Chicago, is a huge vocal and structural tour de force. The new single is incredibly catchy, it has a huge amount of groove and it is a great track to add some flavour and difference to your rock playlists.

The track features huge variation between the intimate almost spoken word verses and the glorious higher reaches of his vocal in the big choruses, which are in complete contrast to each other but work incredibly well.

Indie band A Days Wait have unveiled ‘First Time’, the beautifully immersive new single from the emerging independent outfit. The gorgeously crafted song, a wonderfully nostalgic collection of dreamy synth, is a fantastic preview of their as yet unreleased, new studio album – due for release this summer.

Produced by Mitch Bowden ‘First Time’ has an additional layer of real world impact, as all proceeds from the single’s sale will be donated to charity, making this a fantastic example of an independent project using their art to actively do good. Which is just one of the many reasons that you should check it out and spread the word.

Parham Gharavaisi has pushed his solo multi-instrumental efforts to an absolute extreme with his new metal track, “Aeshmagar”. The extreme artist and singer is responsible for playing every single instrument in the track and he has managed to take his music to new creative heights. “Aeshmagar” is an extremely heavy track that is in your face throughout, with the artist adopting a fierce and no-nonsense approach to every second of the song.

After a time in which over-editing of modern songs has become increasingly prevalent, “Aeshmagar” is a refreshingly pure and extreme take on underground metal. It’s a brutal, high-energy track that is guaranteed to get you moving from the very start.
