It is an exciting time for new music currently, and with our regular spotlight articles, we highlight a huge variety of artists from across every imaginable genre for you to discover. Today we shine the spotlight on three incredible independent projects pushing musical boundaries: Sapient Scar, Sasha & the Bear, and The Whispering.
We have a band with some serious attitude to kick things off with. Los Angeles based rock and metal outfit Sapient Scar deliver a devastatingly potent introduction to their sound with their fierce single, "Weak is the Weapon."
The track is a masterclass in delivering female fronted hard rock, with thunderous drums heavy guitars and sharp lyrics. Weak is the weapon is about reclaiming power and exploring how femininity can be wielded as a force to reckon with and a tactical weapon against adversity. The biting riffs and commanding vocals help Sapient Scar to assert themselves as a name to watch in the heavy music scene.

Switching things up a bit into a late night, atmospheric groove as we catch up with indie duo Sasha & the Bear. Hailing from Brooklyn, close friends Sasha Daniel and Dov Igel formed the project which has now evolved in to a fascinating global journey. Following a hiatus they reconnected after a profound personal loss and there they began a unique ritual of sorts, meeting up in isolated cabins around the world, from Scandinavia to Romania.
The duo's latest single 'Serial Pleaser' is the last teaser before their highly anticipated full length debut album drops on the 7th of August. It has notes of the hypnotic energy of Tame Impala and the slick rhythms of Glass Animals. It is a moody, groove driven psych-pop gem just waiting to be found. It is available for you to check out for yourself right now.
