Artist Spotlight: Immersive Alt-Electronic, Neo-Soul Latin Rock, and Anthemic Indie

By David Weddle
Exploring the raw talent and resonant stories of the independent music scene.
With our regular spotlight articles, we love to highlight a massive variety of independent acts from across the musical spectrum. Today we are diving into three incredible projects that swap rigid, over-polished production for pure, raw human energy: BeerMaster, Neema, and Modern Haze.

BeerMaster, the Global producer best known for his innovative live-drumming integrated into his production, teamed up with art-pop visual artist Rosalyn Song for his alternative electronic track “Lost in the Noise. The song explores that feeling of losing all of your emotions in the ‘noise’ of the modern world and how in today’s world of constant media and detachment from reality it is very hard to stay connected to the world around us.

The song is a contrast of dark, gritty and cinematic urban environments all tied together with BeerMaster’s gritty production and delicate yet emotionally charged vocals from Rosalyn Song. The two artists have managed to create a real sense of tension, perfectly capturing the feeling of trying to stay emotionally connected in today’s increasingly inward looking world of media detachment. This is alternative electronic indie at its finest.

Neema is an indie rock duo comprised of José Daniel Cornejo and José Lito Sousa, both from Latin America, who met up in 2014 to form the band. As an independent band, Neema’s received quite a bit of recognition due to their conceptual album Yei that was featured in Rolling Stone. Their latest release, the independent single “Canción a Distancia,” takes a warm foray into neo-soul and Latin infused rock.

The song follows the duo’s latest musical progression as the two artists tackle topics of love, heartbreak and how to reach equilibrium within themselves. By combining the duo Neema’s soulful song writing and smooth musicianship with the song itself’s heartfelt and intimate qualities, the result is a resounding single that reaches out to fans all over the globe.

We’re spotlighting East Anglia indie rockers Modern Haze and their huge new single, ‘What Do You Want Me to Say?’. The 5 piece band were nominated for the 2025 awards for the best rock band in East Anglia. They draw from influences such as Kings of Leon and Arctic Monkeys and this song is a magnificent slow build up to a huge anthem for the people who are left with unresolved conversations trying to move on to the unknown.

The song transitions from the personal stripped back perspective into a huge, high impact, cathartic chorus, full of atmospheric textures, huge raw vocals and big instrumentation. A track that will definitely stick in your head long after you’ve listened to it!
