It is an exciting time for new music currently. With our regular spotlight articles, we love to highlight a massive variety of independent acts from across the musical spectrum. Today we are diving into three incredible projects that swap rigid, over-polished production for pure, raw human energy: Eileen Carey, Tepid Spring, and Fox and Bones.

Edmonton alternative art-rock band Tepid Spring have released their latest single, “Stumbling Block”. As a single, “Stumbling Block” was written and first recorded by Alexa Bender as a solo project in her bedroom before sprinkling some Tepid Spring magic over it while performing the song in small venues, giving us the record we hear today. A lush and melancholic alternative rock song, “Stumbling Block” features thick and intricate guitar lines, and complex and driving percussion by drummer Jonathan Webster.
The song was recorded in the studio, with the whole band putting their heart and soul into their own parts, and final record is a great showcase for their ability to create great music. It’s a very introspective song that is best experienced somewhere that you can allow the music wash over you in all it’s heavy, visceral emotional impact.

Portland's post-yacht rock duo Fox and Bones returns with 'Are We Still Having Fun?', the phenomenal title track from their upcoming fifth studio album. Following their split as a romantic couple, the pair teamed up with producer Greg Holden to craft their most expansive, honest music to date.
Written as a direct reaction to a world that feels like it is constantly going up in flames, the song serves as a vibrant reminder to intentionally choose joy in the little things. Blending retro folk-rock roots with an infectious indie-pop pulse, the track acts as a powerful temperature check on their creative resilience.
