Artomatico
Ciclos
Spanish sound artist and percussionist Artomatico put out his fourth album, CICLOS (Spanish for CYCLES), in December 2025. He has been working for years in different corners of experimental music, often doing sound for contemporary dance and film projects, so the new record hasn't just appeared from out of nowhere it feels like a continuation of what he has been doing, just slightly more focused on close up sound and texture.
The album is heavy on the electronic side of things but not in a standard club sense of the word, it is experimental with a real depth to it. A lot of it comes from processed percussion, tiny edits, granular stuff along with the addition of bits of field recording. Some listeners might hear it and think of CICLOS as ambient or minimal, others might hear post-classical or even as sound art. It sort of depends on what you listen to normally. Headphones help because the interesting small details are what makes this album what it is.

Artomatico describes the album as an "ASMR-inflected listening experience: cinematic yet intimate, textural, granular, organic, and contemplative." There are passages that sound like he is testing out ideas instead of trying to impress anyone, which is pretty refreshing. You definitely notice the rhythm running through background, even when tracks move slowly which adds an extra dimension to the CICLOS.
If you know names like Steve Reich, Four Tet or Max Richter you will get a rough idea of the space he is working in. The album is a document of where he is now in his musical career. The record is available right now so be sure to give it a spin.
