NEW YORK, NY – [March, 2026]: Rising singer-songwriter and producer Mia McIntosh continues her extraordinary ascent with the premiere of her uplifting new single, “Lets Me Down,” available now via her new partnership with Nashville’s groundbreaking Vere Music. The track heralds the upcoming release of McIntosh’s eagerly awaited new EP, arriving everywhere on Friday, April 24.
Written and self-produced by McIntosh, “Lets Me Down” continues what is proving a milestone 2026 for the gifted 22-year-old artist following the recent premieres of such tracks as the acclaimed “Just Friends” (featured on The Barricade Collective’s influential “Best New Songs” playlist) and “Are You Sorry,” the latter of which sees her weaving her unique sonic signature with a contemporary R&B approach, once again crafting an instantly familiar tale of complex human interaction and bittersweet feeling. An exclusive interview in Rock DNA Magazine detailing the craft behind “Are You Sorry” and more can be read HERE. The Riff Feature Review is HERE.
Having amassed over 25K worldwide streams and counting, Mia McIntosh sits firmly among the new vanguard of contemporary pop storytellers, blending incandescent songcraft with a genre-blurring, self-reliant sound and laser-guided creative vision. The Maryland native has been making music almost from her very start, beginning piano lessons at the age of five and soon writing her own songs and original stories. Her parents instilled in her a wide range of influences that continue to play into her own creative approach, spanning classic singer-songwriters like Paul Simon, Carole King, and Billy Joel, legendary jazz artists Billie Holliday and Sarah Vaughan, and such sonic visionaries as Stevie Wonder. On her own, McIntosh produced two independently released EPs – 2021’s Chances Are Over and 2025’s My Story – both of which affirm her remarkable gift for composing small, extraordinary gems marked by emotively resonant narratives and imaginative bedroom production.
McIntosh’s myriad artistic gifts led her to Boston, MA’s esteemed Berklee College of Music, offering her an opportunity to fully grow into her talent through in-depth education and more importantly, the encouraging community of her fellow students. In her sophomore year, McIntosh took advantage of Berklee’s study abroad program and spent two semesters in Valencia, Spain, allowing her opportunities to broaden her personal horizons by traveling extensively through western Europe. The once-in-a-lifetime experience provided her with a new globally minded perspective, as well as an even more self-assured determination to create music that’s entirely her own.
McIntosh wrapped up her standout 2025 by earning a Top 20 placement on Apple Music’s “New in Holiday” playlist with her reimagined rendition of the classic song from A Charlie Brown Christmas, “Christmastime Is Here.” Recent months have seen McIntosh’s profile grow with widespread media attention spanning The Divine Magazine, V13, The Vanderbilt Hustler, Indiepulse Music Magazine, and Pop-Off, as well as a feature interview and live performance on Voice of America’s Border Crossings. What’s more, she has further expanded her sound by sharing her intimate music with live audiences, including a recent headline concert at Berklee’s Berk Recital Hall, singing the national anthem at multiple Cape Cod Baseball League games, and performances at Harvard and UMass athletic events and Boston’s annual Lighting of the Ship at Martin's Park holiday event. Upcoming live dates will include a special performance as part of Berklee’s Summer in the City series, featuring more than 200 free concerts by students, faculty, and alumni at iconic locations throughout Greater Boston from June to September. Complete details will be unveiled soon. In the meantime, with “Lets You Down” and her much-anticipated new EP on the horizon, Mia McIntosh is poised to take a major step forward, expertly uncovering the many diverse facets of her wide-ranging musical ambitions.
“Besides telling people about my experiences and what my feelings are, I also want to inspire people to talk about what’s going on in their own lives and not feel like they need to be afraid of doing that,” Mia McIntosh says. “That’s so important to me. I hope that people, when they listen to my music, feel like they can carve out space in their lives and find a way to tell their own stories.”
