Blackwater Lightship
Last Night I Saw The Leaves Fall

Picture
There isn't one specific thing that makes the new EP from Blackwater Lightship as good as it is. It could be how Leon and Tom just let the songs breathe instead of forcing them into shape. Last Night I Saw The Leaves Fall isn’t trying to be an over polished, over produced collection,  and that’s probably one of the reason it works so well.

There are five stunning tracks on this record, and they are all carefully curated to keep the flow going from start to finish. You can hear how much time they’ve spent getting each part just right, and that patience has really paid off. The duo say "These are five tracks we’ve poured ourselves into - emotionally, creatively, and technically.", and you can really feel that shining through in the lyrics as well as the musical elements.
Each individual element from guitars to percussion is there for a reason and give a real depth to the EP and the vocals add a warmth of familiarity. Put it all together and you have a cracking EP.

Opening track 'City Lights', my personal favourite,  gets  Last Night I Saw The Leaves Fall off to a very strong start and when the closing track 'The Places Where We Go' fades out you are left wanting more for sure. It’s great EP, something that will have you listening over and over, and it feels like the start of something they’ve been waiting a long time to share.
