Blueprint Tokyo
Dark New Days
If it is soaring vocals, catchy melodies and rhythm that you just can't shake, then you are in the right place, as that is exactly what you get from Dark New Days. The new 6-track EP from Oklahoma City band Blueprint Tokyo marks a triumphant return for them as they continue to build on the emotional depth of their debut album Neon Circuits and the Mission of Hope. The band picks up where they left off in 2025, pushing their sound further into a darker and more atmospheric direction.
Starting off strong with Orange Tiger, the band set the tone for the rest of the record. With the synth-pop vibes blended with indie-rock-infused guitar work throughout the EP. The vocals are distinctive and give the record the expansive feel that makes the whole thing sound larger than life. The guitar solo on Here's Your Story takes things to the next level, while I could easily imagine Change My Mind being a festival hit for sure. Dark New Days has been carefully curated to ensure that the energy of the record keeps moving, with the final track, Nite Valerie, bringing things to a close with a chilled out bassline that tops things off perfectly.

The band sounds really tight, and that is something that Andy Hale himself highlighted:
"We didn't sit down to make a record about any one thing. We made six songs that felt true and somewhere in the process realised they were all pulling in the same direction — that in-between space where you're all moving and you don't know yet how it lands."
Tackling subjects including uncertainty, resilience and relationships, this is an EP that has integrity and a human touch that is very relatable. It is available to check out right now, so be sure to give it a listen and give them a follow on their socials.
