For anyone wondering, the name Captain Accident isn’t a carefully crafted stage persona. It’s a nickname earned through a lifetime of spectacular clumsiness—a self-deprecating streak that occasionally finds its way into the music, but never at the expense of sincerity.
That balance is perfectly illustrated by lead single “Slither on the Dashboard”, released in February 2026. Inspired by a completely true story, the upbeat ska track recounts the day a family pet snake escaped into Captain Accident’s car while he was driving it to a new home in the Welsh Valleys. Captain Accident’s signature sound is built around soaring twin-guitar harmonies rather than a traditional horn section, creating memorable melodies that have become a defining feature of his music. Like every Captain Accident release, Sayonara Paranoia was written, recorded and produced entirely by Captain Accident, reflecting a deeply personal and independent approach to making music.

Made up of close friends and long-time collaborators, The Disasters recreate the album’s twin-guitar arrangements, infectious grooves, vocal harmonies and energy, bringing the songs to audiences across the UK and further afield.
A Live Reputation Built One Show at a Time
Together, Captain Accident & The Disasters have steadily built a reputation as an energetic live act, appearing at Boomtown Fair, Isle of Wight Festival, Wilderness Festival, Bestival, Cornbury Festival, Mucky Weekender and Rototom Sunsplash, one of the world’s largest reggae festivals.
The band have completed three full UK tours supporting reggae pioneers Toots and the Maytals, while also sharing stages with the likes of Aswad, Steel Pulse, The Abyssinians, Alborosie, The Selecter, Julian Marley, The Beat and ska-punk favourites Less Than Jake.
Among the many memorable moments has been Suggs of Madness joining the band on stage, reflecting the sense of spontaneity, friendship and musical community that has always surrounded Captain Accident’s live shows.
Speaking about the new album, Captain Accident says:
“Life gives you plenty to write about if you’re paying attention. Sometimes those stories are about love, heartbreak or the things that weigh on your mind, and every now and then something completely ridiculous happens—like accidentally letting a snake loose in your car.
Reggae will always be at the heart of what I do, but I’ve never wanted to put boundaries around the music. The rock and punk records I grew up with are just as important to me, and I think this album reflects that. I can’t wait to get back out on the road with the band and share these songs with everyone.”
UK Tour
To celebrate the release of Sayonara Paranoia, Captain Accident & The Disasters will tour the UK, beginning with a special album launch show at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, before visiting venues and festivals across the country.
