After shaking things up with their last single Revolution, circa waste no time slowing down. Their latest drop, Can’t You See?, hits streaming services with a bittersweet punch, a live-show favourite finally making its way onto record.

Built on a bed of tight, rolling drums, swirling synths, and chorus-soaked acoustics, the track opens like a hazy summer morning before bursting into a rush of bass and glistening, late-80s guitar lines that nod to The Smiths. It’s bright on the surface, but the light doesn’t quite reach the edges.

Lyrically, Can’t You See? digs into darker territory, isolation, self-doubt, and the quiet panic of feelings you can’t quite shake. Sean’s vocal delivery is part confession, part surrender, tracing the arc of someone running from themselves only to find they can’t get far enough.

By the time the drums kick into overdrive and Sean repeats “I keep running but I know that it’s not enough,” the message? This is more than a summer single. It’s the sound of the walls closing in under blue skies.
If this is your first encounter with circa and you want to find out more about them then you are in the right place. Read on and discover everything you need to know about this exciting, up and coming band.
After crossing paths in 2021, Sean (vocals), Maitiu (guitar), Fionn (drums) and Sam (bass) quickly realised that they all shared a mutual love and respect for similar styles of music. Namely, 80s/90s indie-rock, soul and rnb and vintage/modern day pop. All sounds that can be heard in their music today. On top of that, they all shared a strong desire to create music like the greats that came before them.

For circa, it’s not just about creating for creation’s sake, they want to solidify themselves as another legendary Irish group on par with Thin Lizzy, The Cranberries and The Pogues to name a few. For the four boys, it was a no-brainer that they would form a band and start to create together to bring the music they’d heard in their heads for so long to life. As frontman Sean puts it: “playing and being in music is just innate to us”

circa’s music is heavily pop influenced which is not something the band shies away from. Catchy hooks and confident arrangements are ever-present in their art and it’s their love for such a variety of styles that allows them to take elements from each genre and blend them together seamlessly into something new and authentic.

With five tracks under their belt, multiple headline shows (Whelan’s, Bello Bar, etc.) and just announced slots at Ireland Music Week 2025 and Whelan’s Summer Watch, circa are on a fast track to becoming one of the most recognisable names in the Irish music scene and with their feet pressed firmly on the gas, the sky’s the limit for these young creatives.
