The Dels, who, of course, have form with the Scotland national football team, having penned the official song - ‘Don't Come Home Too Soon’ - for the 1998 World Cup in France, will then return to the UK to finish work on an as yet-untitled new album to come this autumn. This will hopefully be released in time for the band’s near sold-out run of 19 shows in November and December.
The band, featuring the established line up of Justin Currie (bass/vocals), Iain Harvie (guitar/vocals), Kris Dollimore (guitar), Andy Alston (keys) and Jim McDermott (drums), will be playing all the hits and more from their illustrious repertoire, including the Top 10 US hit ‘Roll To Me’, their breakthrough single ‘Nothing Ever Happens’, ‘Kiss This Thing Goodbye’, ‘Driving With The Brakes On’ and countless more fan favourites.
The band will be joined on almost all shows by local supports, while the two Scottish fan parties will welcome some very special guests on board. In Providence famed rap legend Sage Francis will take the stage for a rare hometown performance, while the Boston show will open with a DJ set from legendary former Chelsea and Scotland footballer, and all-round music lover, Pat Nevin.
In addition, the band will be launching a new Del Amitri whisky in time for the tournament in collaboration with Glasgow’s Caskade Drinks. ‘Longshot’ is an expertly crafted blended Scotch whisky fully matured for 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead. It was selected by Iain Harvie to celebrate Scotland's return to the World Cup, and its name was inspired by the band’s enduring classic 'Don't Come Home Too Soon' (“Even long shots make it”). The bottle is exclusively available from Caskade Drinks, grab yourself a bottle and toast the promise of a summer to remember.
