Derek Astles’ Self-titled Album Is Here—and It’s Something Special

There is always something really exciting when you hear an artist for the first time and know immediately that they've got something very unique. With Derek Astles, that is exactly what you get, and his brand new self-titled album is a prime example of that. Packed with honest songwriting, beautiful musicianship and a real depth with plenty of soul, the album was released on April 16th and is definitely one that you need to hear.

The tracks feel very personal, almost as if they have lived a life before making it to your ears, courtesy of Derek's authentic storytelling skills. Derek pulls from his own experiences – spending time on the Atlantic coast drawing on memories of long, cross-country road trips, turning those stories into music that feels familiar yet still very fresh-sounding. It is an unpretentious album that leaves a big impression.

Helping to shape the sound is a talented group of musicians: Tony Savorino brings in some killer guitar work, Josh Kerin holds it down on bass and Tom West adds an extra dimension to the music with his keys. Together, they create a vibe that feels grounded and gives Derek's vocals and lyrics plenty of room to shine.
