Digging for Kanky
Wide Open
Manchester trio Digging for Kanky is back with a brand new single, Wide Open. Taken from their forthcoming album Raining Stones, and it's crammed full to the brim with tension and emotion. The dark, shadowy vibe is so atmospheric thanks in no small part to the totally immersive production style.
There is so much to get your head around that one listen just isn't enough. The rap at the start leading with the stunning instrumentals blending straight into Kat's stunning vocals is something worth clicking that rewind button for, but do yourself a favour and resist the urge, as the track needs to be heard in one go to get the most out of it.

Tackling subjects of ambition, compromise and acceptance head on, the trio have a real knack for storytelling, and if you are able to, I would definitely check out the official video. It is a visual masterpiece and really brings the lyrics to life. Following the main character's story, pretty much selling his soul to get to where he thinks he wants to be. It is pretty striking.
I, for one, am very excited to see what the future holds for Digging for Kanky. Their sound is very distinctive and incredibly infectious; just based on the energy of this track, I can imagine their live shows must be incredible. The Manchester trio name the likes of artists such as Massive Attack, Leftfield, The Streets and The xx as major influences, and I can certainly hear that. A really cracking track that should be on your playlist.
Wide Open is available right now, so be sure to check it out for yourself, and don't forget to follow Digging for Kanky so you don't miss out on future releases.
