DOTTS O'CONNOR
Fail We May
Irish singer-songwriter Dotts O’Connor has released his new single 'Fail We May', the first track shared from his upcoming 2026 EP Jodie. The song was inspired by the story of DJ Andrew Weatherall and a fisherman from Cork, whose phrase “Fail We May, Sail We Must” has become a quiet anthem of resilience.
'Fail We May' was recorded live at Meadow Studio in Wicklow with Rian Trench producing. Featuring Brian Dillon on piano, Paul Kenny on drums and Ken McCabe on bass and electronics, 'Fail We May' captured the essence of the coming together of great musicians bouncing off of each other in that recording session. It is great to hear that connection between the collaborators and with Dott's vocals adding an extra dimension, this is a track with so many layers to it.

Reflecting on the inevitability of the many setbacks we all face in life and the value of acceptance and continuing to keep on pushing forward, Dott delivers his message of positivity and strength in numbers with a voice that is comfortingly familiar, more than a nod to traditional Irish folk songs this track encapsulates everything that you would expect but through a fresh, contemporary lens.
Having previously made his name working on 'Come On Live Long' and 'Dirty Dreamer', he has most definitely established himself as a solo artist whose music has found the sweet spot between simplicity and emotional depth, balancing the two to create something pretty special.
