Give their iconic 1995 album 'Definition' a new lease of life
Having turned 31 this year, the album 'Definition' from Utah pop-rock band Elysian Fields has had a new lease of life as the band have re-released the album across major streaming platforms. The release is the perfect opportunity for fans relive the mid 1990s one more time.
The band were formed back in 1994 when songwriters James Shumway and Mark Roos teamed up with vocalist Kerri Murray. Kerri's powerful, distinctive voice became a defining feature of the Elysian Fields' sound.
'Definition' was released in November 1995 and was received really positively by the local music press. The Deseret News described it as "a breath of fresh air", encouraging Utah music collectors to check it out and luckily many people did and the rest, as they say, is history.

The opening track is particularly poignant in the UK as we are in the grip of a heatwave, 'When the Days Get Hot' is a spectacular, rock track with glorious vocals, a real groove from the bass thanks to Dale Sandberg and introduces Jeff Francom's high energetic drum style. Featuring fan favourite, the heartfelt ballad 'Staying With You', the album is a testament to the great songwriting of the band, they really did cram a lot of power and emotion in to their tracks.
Elysian Fields disbanded in 1996, making it even more incredible that they were able to create something that sounded like it had been recorded by a band who had worked together for years. Despite only being together for a short time, 'Definition' has ironically become the album that has defined band's legacy.
