EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Pivots Explore Kleptomania and Manufactured Desire on “ANY MEANS”
Ahead of tomorrow’s official single release, Anglo-French electronic duo Pivots have given Music News Monthly an exclusive first look at the raw visualizer for their new single, "ANY MEANS."
Fresh off the heels of their mind-bending single “FAKE NEWS” and their immersive Parisian barge performances, Roman Rappak and Pol Sibil are back with an aggressive, hypnotic new chapter.
Officially dropping tomorrow, “ANY MEANS” uses the lens of kleptomania to take a look at modern consumerism. Inspired by a close friend’s daily reality with compulsive shoplifting, the track confronts manufactured greed and the increasingly thin line between theft and creation. Pivots have paired the track with a voyeuristic visualizer featuring real-time attempted theft footage captured by the band inside a Paris metro station. The project grounds these abstract anxieties in the gritty reality of underground transit.
"The new single shines the spotlight on compulsions that follow us through supermarkets, social media, relationships, and creativity itself,” frontman Roman Rappak explains. “In a world where desire is manufactured on an industrial scale and every image or sound can be copied, how much of what we do is genuinely our own choice—and has ownership itself become an illusion?”
“ANY MEANS” is out tomorrow across all platforms. In the meantime, you can read our previous in-depth Q&A with Pivots here.
