FACTHEORY
Bird of Time (ft. Michel Sordinia)

Picture
Factheory have released a new single titled “Bird of Time,” a collaboration with Michel Sordinia, best known as the singer of the long-running Belgian band The Names. The track brings together several strands of the group’s creative circle, with music by Dominique Nuydt, lyrics by Bruno Uyttersprot, and arrangements shaped collectively by the band.

Part of the background to the song comes from a school trip in spring 2025. Nuydt, who works as a history teacher, wrote the foundations of the track during a visit to Buchenwald. After spending time at the site, he stepped aside with a guitar for a short break, and the first ideas for “Bird of Time” took shape. Uyttersprot later added lyrics that look back on childhood and the sense of time moving quickly.

The recording process was split between Ivy Room Studio with Thomas Neidhardt and Canal 10 Studio with Jack Gallows. The single’s artwork is by Pascal Courcelles.

A music video, directed by Stéphane Manzone, accompanies the release. Manzone, who divides his time between Brussels and Marseille, has worked in TV, film, and music videos. The video was filmed in Brussels, with scenes captured in Bois de la Cambre and inside the New Rocky Pompadour bar on the Parvis de Saint-Gilles. The band have thanked the bar’s owner, David Lacour, for his support during the shoot.

Factheory also acknowledge Sordinia’s involvement in both the song and the video. His group, The Names, formed in the late 1970s and connected early on with Factory Records after attending a Joy Division show in Brussels. They continue to perform and will share a bill with Factheory on 6 December in Meschede, Germany.

Factheory are approaching their tenth anniversary, which they will mark with a show in Brussels in March 2026. The Names are set to appear as guests for the occasion.

The band consists of Dominique Nuydt, Bruno Uyttersprot, and Stefan Weidemann, drawing on past experiences in various Belgian alternative projects. More information and their full discography can be found on Bandcamp, with additional updates across their social channels.
