Farbod Biglari
Waltz for Baran (The Rain Waltz)

Picture
Farbod Biglari’s new single, Waltz for Baran (The Rain Waltz), is a quiet kind of triumph. Released June 16th from his home base in Vancouver, the piece blends delicate nostalgia with sweeping orchestration, the result of a long-distance collaboration between Biglari and arranger Maria Duque. What began as a melody scribbled on guitar as a teenager has grown into something cinematic and full of emotional weight.

The track is rooted in memory but shaped by experience. With a clear nod to Italian composer Stelvio Cipriani, Waltz for Baran echoes the elegant melancholy of old European film scores, all subtle drama, understated romance, and the slow unfolding of feeling. It doesn’t rush. It lets you breathe with it.
Biglari’s original demo was recorded in his home studio, stripped back and minimal. Duque’s string arrangements came later, crafted carefully from her own space. Their collaboration spanned countries and time zones, but the result is seamless. There’s a narrative thread here, not just in the music, but in how it was made.

It’s a piece that carries its own atmosphere. Rainy-day soft, but emotionally exact. It doesn’t shout. It lingers.
Waltz for Baran (The Rain Waltz) is out now on all platforms.
