French Dogs
French Dogs EP

Picture
French Dogs released their self titled debut EP on December 5th via Ciao Ketchup Recordings. The four track release brings together material the London based five piece have been developing over the past year, following a steady run of singles and growing live shows.

The EP pulls from the same places as the band’s recent releases. Late nights, routine days that drag on, money spent badly, relationships that don't quite work. The songs are written  without trying to dress those ideas up, they are direct and to the point. What you hear is largely what you get.

Several tracks will already be familiar to listeners who have been following the band. Flicked from Bricklane and Car Crash Lovers helped put French Dogs on the radar earlier in the year, with Car Crash Lovers receiving support from Radio X and BBC Introducing. A Day So Long and Unlucky in Love followed, filling out the picture without changing direction.

Two EP tracks in particular, Modern Day Despair and Toxic Alibi, have started to pick up radio attention of their own, including airplay on BBC London and Radio X. One is more restrained, the other louder and more direct, but both stick to straightforward songwriting rather than studio tricks.

French Dogs work within a guitar led indie setup, but the emphasis is on structure and lyrics rather than sound alone. The band handle their ideas with a level of restraint that keeps the songs grounded and recognisable, especially for listeners who see parts of their own routines reflected back at them.

This EP is not positioned as a conclusion or a breakthrough moment. It documents where the band are now. With a debut album scheduled for spring 2026, French Dogs appear focused on building steadily, releasing songs as they are ready, and letting the response shape what comes next.
