GISKE
Light Upon The Water
Some bands start in garages or clubs. GISKE began with a bike ride around a tiny island off the Norwegian coast. It was 1991, and a 21-year-old Alex Rinde turned to his younger cousin and asked if he wanted to start a band. That cousin was just 15. There were only 610 people on the island, not a lot to choose from, but just enough to get something going. They wrote a song that day and haven’t stopped writing since.
Before GISKE, there was The Margarets, an indie soft rock group that made real waves in Norway in the early 2000s, with a string of Top 10 hits and even a gold record. But when Alex’s health forced him to step back from touring, the group gently came to a close.

Still, the music kept coming.
In 2015, GISKE emerged with a self-titled debut. Now comes Ten Visits, Ten Songs — a deeply personal record built from ten long drives between Oslo and Giske. Eight hours each way. One visit per song. Each track is tied to a moment, a memory, a conversation between two lifelong collaborators who’ve shared more than most bands ever do.
One of those ten tracks is The stunning song 'Light Upon The Water'. An indie, folk infused masterpiece that showcases GISKE's sound.
There’s no big label push here. Just a group of musicians still following the thread they picked up as teenagers, now spun into something quiet, honest, and enduring.
