GUITARI BARO
'Guitari Baro'

There’s a stillness at the heart of Guitari Baro it is a record that doesn’t knock down the door with a load of bravado and showmanship. Instead opening up slowly and drawing you into the space between the balafon of Lassana Diabaté and the guitars of Gaoussou Kouyaté and Kerfala Diabaté. Although all sharing deep Mande roots Guitari Baro seem perfectly at ease letting those roots shift and stretch.

Recorded at La Boutique Studio in Dakar, the self titled album moves with natural rhythm. The balafon holds a calm centre while the guitars wander in adding an extra layer of sound around it. The project was brought together by producer Dudu Sarr, alongside Lucy Durán and Pape Armand Boye, and stands as the first new artist release from Chrysalis Global. Their approach feels respectful, leaving space for the trio’s natural conversation to unfold.

Across pieces like Lamban Blues and Hommage à la Rumba Congolaise, the music shifts between memory and motion, never fixed, always alive. Guitari Baro doesn’t demand attention  it earns it quietly, note by note.

Guitari Baro was released internationally on September 26th, 2025, through Chrysalis Global, on digital, CD, and vinyl and is available for you to check out for yourself right now.
