Glasgow’s heavyskint aren’t resting on their laurels, even after a run of sold-out shows that turned heads across the city’s live circuit. The band have finally dropped their debut single, 'Vice'. It’s a fierce introduction, recorded with producer Chris McCrory (Catholic Action, Walt Disco, Conscious Pilot) and packed with all the rough energy that’s made their gigs so unpredictable.

With crashing guitars that twist around frontman Jacob Hunter's soaring vocal delivery and a melody that pulls it all together, this is serious piece of music that draws on the band's creative talent and skilful song writing. It is a bold move from a group that's already developing a reputation for chaos done right.

Guitarist Jamie Kelly says Vice was the first song they ever wrote together, the only one to survive from their earliest days. The band pushed hard to capture the spirit of their live sound in the studio, at one point Hunter’s vocals were so loud they drew a noise complaint from next door. Kelly even punched his guitar to get the right texture on a few takes. “No guitars were harmed,” he adds.

Formed in 2024, heavyskint have gone from bedroom project to local phenomenon, selling out venues like King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and QMU. Their sound is somewhere between the dark tension of Fontaines D.C. and the scale of Pink Floyd, with flashes of late 90s grit.

The band headline McChuills on November 21st, and if Vice is anything to go by, this is only the beginning.
