HITLIST
Human Cereal
Looking for something new, exciting and refreshingly raw? Then look no further, as emerging Leeds alt-rockers Hitlist have got your back, with more attitude than you can shake a very big stick at. The band's debut EP, Human Cereal, is crammed full of punk angst, a bundle of energy that is ready to give your ears a ruddy good workout.
Human Cereal is just four tracks long, but they are four tracks that really define what the band are about: playing music you can move to as loud as possible, something they have managed to achieve with this gloriously colourful record.
The EP is as unpredictable as it is incredibly fun. I was reminded early on of Daisy Chainsaw and the almost carefree, loose feeling to the performance, which is really great to hear. There is a good helping of heavy, aggressive guitar work and angry vocals; the almost funk-driven rhythm is thanks to some nifty bass work and is a great extra layer to the record.

Hitlist are full of ideas that they aren't shy about testing out. Take the most experimental track on the EP, Marriage is Hard, with a vocal back and forth against a heavy as hell bass line that really adds to the tension of the track. Really clever stuff!
The band has already seen plenty of buzz around their single Girlfriends from the likes of Amazing Radio and ASBO Magazine, giving them early coverage, and I can see why, this is a band with so much to give, and the debut EP is just the start of something very exciting.
