CHANGE IT ALL

London four-piece Holding Poison are in a great place musically following judging by the release of their new single, Change It All, and it’s a track that cuts straight to the point. Produced by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro), the song channels frustration, self-reflection, and a deep need for change, both personal and collective.

The band — Matt Blackwell, Jack Findell, Alex Hogg, and Joe Lazarus — first came together in the thick of lockdown back in 2020. Since then, they've built their sound the way bands used to: playing together, pushing each other, and staying grounded in their shared passion. That chemistry comes through loud and clear in Change It All.

The song touches on the doubts and restlessness a lot of people have felt in recent years. The feeling of being stuck in your own head, of replaying old decisions and wondering if it’s too late to take a different path. It’s not about a specific moment or crisis — more about those quiet realisations that creep in when life slows down. The chorus balances tension with release, and the bridge drives home that sometimes, it’s not the place that changes, but the people who fade out of it.

Sonically, the band leaned into layered guitars without overcrowding the mix, there’s weight behind every part, but nothing feels overdone. Recording partly at home and partly in a local studio gave them room to experiment without losing the edge.

It’s also worth noting this track marks a bit of a turning point for Holding Poison. They’ve had airplay on Kerrang! Radio, and they’re starting to make a name for themselves beyond their usual circles. No gimmicks here, just a band finding their voice and learning how to use it.

“Change It All is really about deciding to start over,” says vocalist Matt Blackwell. “Even if that means questioning everything you thought you knew. That’s something we’ve all lived through lately.”

The single dropped April 21st — and if this is your first time hearing Holding Poison, it’s a solid place to start.
