Hugo Oak
S.M.S.tt.D

Dutch artist Hugo Oak returns with Sold My Soul to the Devil, a gripping and soulful offering that marks a new chapter in his creative journey. Known for his rich harmonies and emotionally charged soundscapes, Hugo first emerged with his debut Brightly Dark in 2016 before stepping into a global spotlight as a key member of Satori & The Band From Space, touring the world and co-producing across a kaleidoscopic mix of stages and festivals.

But this time, it’s different. Written mid-flight between Mexico and LA during that whirlwind tour, the seeds of SMSTTD were planted in transition, and it shows. The track carries an aching sense of restlessness, of something stirring beneath the surface. Its gospel-tinged vocals and atmospheric textures speak of quiet turmoil, the kind that doesn’t shout but still demands to be heard.

Following the death of his father, Hugo took a step back from the spotlight, retreating into reflection. His father’s words, “stop playing small”, now echo through every note of this track. It’s less a comeback and more a reclamation, a visceral release that channels grief, freedom, and a refusal to stay silent.

Now working with a new wave of collaborators, Hugo Oak stands firmly in his own voice again. Sold My Soul to the Devil is the sound of an artist reckoning with himself, and rising from it, unafraid.
The single is out now across all major platforms.
