CAST
YEAH YEAH YEAH
If you were around in the 1990s then you will have no doubt heard of Liverpudlian indie rockers, Cast, they made a splash back then with songs like 'Finetime', 'Alright' and 'Walkaway' to name just a few. They released their last album in 2024 'Love is the Call' followed by a huge tour opening up for Oasis. Now that the dust has started to settle on that amazing journey, the lads are back with their eighth studio album 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' and it is a proper belta.
Kicking off with a strong start 'Poison Vine' takes you straight back to hazy summer days with a familiarity that is very reassuring. There is a lot going on, from the backing vocals to the brass section, there is a fullness to the song that is all encompassing. What an opener! John's vocals are impressively timeless on this record, showcased perfectly in 'Don't Look Away', hitting the high notes with ease.
Now I know I started off talking about the 90s but don't assume that this is an attempt at self mimicry, and the band trying do what they did back then, 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' is an evolution of that unique sound that Cast have. The modern day Cast have the benefit of decades of musical knowledge and they have definitely put that to good use here.

The album is crammed full of sing a long, crowd pleasers including 'Calling Out Your Name', I can almost hear the crowd singing that hook. It is going to be epic when they do play it live on their upcoming shows. The band are as tight as ever, in fact the tracks on this album are really something else. Single 'Free Love' is a prime example of just how well they work together.
'Yeah Yeah Yeah' doesn't sound like a band trying to prove anything to anyone, it sounds like the work of a band who, a long time ago, figured out who they are and are more than happy to share that with the world. And I for one am really happy that they have.
The new album is available everywhere from 30th of January so be sure to check it out. Pre-order your copy here.
