Liverpudlian indie trio The Wombats have returned with their sixth studio album 'Oh! The Ocean'. The Platinum selling chart toppers didn't rest on their laurels after hitting the number 1 spot in the UK charts with Fix Yourself Not The World, they have been working hard creating an album that delivers everything you could possibly want from an album and so much more.

From the first track The Wombats make it clear that you are in for a heck of a ride. Frontman Murph's stunning falsetto with the vocal harmonies in the chorus of opening track 'Sorry I'm Late I didn't Wanna Come', is a glorious introduction to an album that has been eagerly anticipated by fans since it was announced. There is a real variety of styles and sounds on the album, from the fuzzy synth sounds of 'Kate Moss' to the atmospheric orchestral intro to 'Gut Punch', The Wombats have really put a lot of effort into giving the fans plenty to get their teeth into.

I've no idea how the band are going to choose which tracks to put out as singles as there isn't a weak track on the album. 'My Head Is Not My Friend', is definitely one that fans will love. Its hard hitting lyrics deal with mental health in an open and honest look at relationships. It's a really catchy tune that I can imagine will sound epic when played live.

Clever lyrics and little musical tidbits that surprise and delight are littered throughout the album, the echoey backing vocals and a class mini guitar solo in The Worlds Not Out To Get Me, I Am' is a great example of the band's creativity. The opening riff to Blood On The Hospital Floor is so infectious (pun intended) and it is matched with the nifty drum work that keeps the toes tapping. There really is something lurking around every musical corner just waiting to delight you.

The Wombats have recorded an album that deserves to be heard, packed with future fan favourites for sure. If you are lucky enough to get along to one of their upcoming arena shows you will get experience some of the new songs in person, you lucky thing.
