INTERVIEW WITH....
IN THE MIDDLE
Creativity has always been at the forefront of the music scene and alternative musical duo In The Middle embody that creative energy with their unique approach incorporating art into their music.
We've been lucky enough to be able to find out more about them in their own words. Read on to learn more about them and their music.

First and foremost who is In The Middle?
Hi! We’re Mars and Apollo and we are In The Middle. We’re an alternative duo who write comic books to go with our music. We are based in New York City.
We met when we were 14 during our freshman year in a human geography class while living in our hometown of Orlando, FL. We quickly bonded over the show doctor who (Apollo later admitted he knew nothing about it and just really needed a friend so he went home and binged it that night).
A few months later Apollo heard me playing ukulele and singing over FaceTime and suggested the idea of starting a band and that was that. We soon became best friends and band mates. We spent years in a hot 100+ degree Florida garage writing and learning together.
Your debut album ‘Brain Games’ was released in conjunction with a full comic book created by you. I’ve checked it out and it’s very impressive. How did you come up with the idea for creating a comic to compliment ‘Brain Games’?
We’ve always been a fan of concept albums and we knew that we wanted to make an album with a storyline. If we had the budget we probably would have made a movie, but we decided a comic book could be just as effective. We had a rough idea of the storyline of the comic book, but it really came together as we were writing the music. We were constantly putting ourselves in the shoes of the characters and writing about how we imagined this dystopian fictional world.

Your fanbase continues to grow following the album release last year, can your fans expect a follow on to ‘Brain Games’?
Fans have a lot to look forward to! We still have so much in store for this album, including some really cool music videos that will be coming out in a few months. We think there’s still so much for fans to explore in the ‘Brain Games’ era. We’ve also been really inspired for album two, and we’re starting to develop the storyline for that which has been super exciting because the style gets to change a bit and evolve with the reader.
For people who have yet to hear your music could you describe your sound and your main musical influences?
We grew up with a lot of musical influences that we’re inspired by, but the ones that have impacted our music the most would probably be The Gorillaz, Twenty One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, Paramore, Muse, and Glass Animals.
From everything you have learned since starting you music career, what do you know now that you wish you knew when you started out?
An overnight success takes 10 years. We really thought that all it took was to make one really good song and hope it went viral and that was it. Now we know how much goes into marketing, booking, management, and content creation. Finding not only our sound but our visual identity took years to develop, and even now we are still evolving and growing. You have to become an Artist in everything, not just a musician.
What are the future plans for In The Middle?
World domination. No further explanation.
No but in all seriousness, we plan to book more shows in the NYC/NJ area with the hopes of doing summer tour next year. We’re working on album two, which will have even more lore and storytelling through music and visuals.7) Where can people find your music?
People can find us on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all other streaming platforms!
