Los Angeles songwriter and guitarist Jake Stirn has released a new single titled Thought of You, arriving on July 25, 2025. The track marks another step in his ongoing work as an independent artist, continuing a run of material that focuses on clear storytelling and live, collaborative musicianship.
Writing the lyrics and performing acoustic guitar, harmonica and lead vocals, Jake has really made his mark on this track. The recording features contributions from a group of musicians he has worked with across the local Los Angeles scene. Stirn was joined by Dylan Andrews on electric guitar, Phil Coffey on keys, Zach Sutton hitting the skins and bass duties were picked up by Freddy Hernandez, Giselle Manto added an extra layer thanks to their vocal harmonies. The single was produced by Mike Post at Moosecat Recording, the studio where the project was completed.

Thought of You centres on themes Stirn has returned to before, including breakups, lost connections, and the process of recognising personal responsibility in relationships. He describes the track as being direct rather than building it around complicated imagery, Jake used clear statements to get his message across. Opting for playing live throughout rather than opting for programmed parts or layered digital production, he carried that approach throughout the entire arrangement.
The single follows a busy run of shows. Stirn recently performed at the Hotel Café and Good Times at Davey Wayne’s in Los Angeles, alongside dates across the Midwest including Iowa City, Chicago, and Aurora. He also played a show in Encinitas shortly before the release.
Thought of You adds another entry to Stirn’s catalogue and keeps his focus on simple arrangements, clear lyrics, and the use of live players to carry the sound.
