'Love & Desire' the latest album from singer and songwriter James Harries, dropped on October 17th through Tranzistor and Supraphon. Recorded in just three days, the album leaves behind studio perfection in favour of something a bit more direct and human. The album captures a moment in time, a group of musicians working together and bouncing off each other musically speaking, with their focus more on how the music feels rather than precision.
James was reminded of how not everything needs to be perfect to have value thanks to an old roll of photographs taken by his son, and that is where the project began. That small moment turned out to be quite poignant and shaped how 'Love & Desire' came together, an honest and open recording, it is just a few like minded people in a room making music.

Across the nine songs, Harries keeps the focus on performance and songwriting. 'Shivers Down My Spine' opens with an urgency that grabs your attention, while 'I Want Out' has a steady pace and unfiltered tone. With 'Paris' offering a lighter rhythmic sound, it is a prime example of how naturally the record moves between moods with each track holding its own.
Harries has built a strong following through years of touring across Europe and the United States, over that time his live shows, whether solo or with a band, have become known for being open and unguarded. It is that same approach defines this record.
