Jared Bond
Sugar Rush
Kansas City songwriter Jared Bond has kicked off 2025 with the release of his new single “Sugar Rush”, a track that blends raw guitar energy with sharp, self-reflective lyricism. Recorded at Element Studios, it came to life with the help of bassist Jim Embry (Root and Stem) and engineer Joel Nanos.
At its core, “Sugar Rush” is a restless meditation on modern life, how we chase quick distractions while chaos swirls around us. With a sound sitting somewhere between Father John Misty’s lyrical wit and the soaring guitars of Jimmy Eat World and My Morning Jacket, Bond builds something both catchy and unsettling. The guitars run hot through a vintage Gibson Falcon amp, while a vocoder-driven final verse twists the track into something unexpected.
“I wanted it to be infectious, but with a weight behind it,” Bond says. “It’s about the way we keep entertaining ourselves, even while the world feels like it’s falling apart.”

The single marks an important step for Bond, who continues to carve out his voice in the Midwest indie/alt-rock landscape. The collaboration with Embry and Nanos adds both grit and polish, but it’s Bond’s vision that drives the track—balancing immediacy with a deeper pull to question, reflect, and feel.
