Dublin-based fiddle player, vocalist, and composer Jayne Pomplas releases her debut single “Hit Single”, arriving May 29th, followed by a special launch performance on June 1st at Arthur's Jazz & Blues Club.

Working at the intersection of Irish traditional music, folk song, and contemporary experimental sound, Pomplas is quickly emerging as a distinctive new voice in modern folk. Known for her virtuosic fiddle playing and evocative vocals, she crafts performances that move seamlessly between intimate storytelling and electrifying, layered soundscapes.

“Hit Single” is a playful yet sharply observed reflection on pop culture and the music industry. Built around the idea of chasing something increasingly elusive, the track captures a sense of longing and uncertainty, questioning whether we’ve missed something we can’t quite define. Musically, it leans into a nostalgic, bittersweet summer atmosphere, driven by banjo, fiddle, double bass, and percussion.

Pomplas’ work honours tradition while pushing confidently into new sonic territory. Rooted in the New York–Sligo fiddle lineage, she trained under renowned players Brian Conway and Tony DeMarco, before further developing her craft at Ithaca College School of Music. Her music reflects this deep foundation, combined with a fearless approach to arrangement, improvisation, and songwriting.

She has collaborated and performed with a wide range of acclaimed artists including The Chieftains, Frankie Gavin, Fin Furey, Francesco Turrisi, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Lunatraktors, Mik Pyro, Jaz Delorean, Bricknasty, and Ron Block, as well as experimental collectives such as Acid Granny. She has also opened for Vieux Farka Touré.

Blending folk lyricism with cinematic textures, Pomplas’ sound explores the space between structure and spontaneity, balancing sharp songwriting with immersive, evolving arrangements. Her music shifts fluidly from stripped-back intensity to expansive, full-band energy, reflecting a modern folk voice that is both grounded and exploratory.

The June 1st launch show at Arthur's Jazz & Blues Club will mark the first live outing of “Hit Single”, offering audiences a chance to experience her work in its full, dynamic form.
