Kavya Limaye
Nuqoosh
Indian singer Kavya Limaye is preparing for a major moment in her career with the release of her ghazal project Nuqoosh, which came out on the 28th of February 2026. The release comes just weeks before she takes the stage at Royal Albert Hall on the 22nd March, where she will perform alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and present works by poet Ajay Sahaab.
Nuqoosh, which translates to “imprints," centers on a set of ghazals (a form of Arabic poetry) written by Ajay Sahaab, one of the recognised contemporary voices in Urdu poetry. The project focuses on themes that run through much of the ghazal tradition, including love, reflection, time, and the inner life of the individual. Songs such as Nadaan Dill, Sochiye, and Ye Waqt Ka Lagta Hai explore those ideas through concise lyrics and a restrained musical setting.
The compositions for the project come from Sachin Limaye, whose arrangements draw on classical ghazal traditions while maintaining a contemporary sound. Additional orchestration is handled by producers Haroon Leo and Sharoon Leo, known collectively as the Leo Twins. The project is released through Sufiscore, a London-based platform dedicated to Sufi and ghazal music.
The EP starts with a spoken word introduction as Sochiye – Live kicks in and Kavya gives us a taste of great things to come. Kavya's enchanting vocal performance works perfectly with the traditional instrumentation to create something extraordinarily atmospheric. Stunning work. In fact, each track on this three-track delight draws you in to its own world that is so easy to let your mind get lost in for a few minutes.

Limaye first gained widespread recognition in India through her appearances on television music competitions, including The Voice India Kids, where she finished as runner-up, and later Indian Idol. Raised in a musical family, she grew up surrounded by ghazal music performed by her parents, singers Sachin and Ashita Limaye.
This is a very different style of music from other artists you may have on your playlists. Kavya Limaye has proven that this EP deserves a place in your listening rotation. Not only is this adding a really diverse listening experience, but also the music and vocal performance on Nuqoosh are impeccable and definitely not to be missed. Her upcoming appearance at the Royal Albert Hall marks a significant international platform for her work. Presenting the poetry of Ajay Sahaab in that setting reflects the continuing global interest in ghazal music and its ability to connect poetry and song across audiences.
