Kazu Osumi released the new single “Times of Love” on 28 November 2025. Based in Irvine, California, Kazu handled the writing and direction of the track, with live instrumentation recorded remotely by session musicians through Musiversal. Jane Lui, who also releases music as Surrija, appears on background vocals and adds counterpoint lines near the end of the song.

This release marks a change in direction from Kazu's earlier work which leaned more towards experimentation, 'Times of Love' is deliberately straightforward in that respect. You can hear that the entire arrangement is built around guitar and live players with a clean sound that is not over fussy. The guitar work draws from familiar reference points, particularly the melodic phrasing associated with Eric Clapton and John Mayer, but it’s used in a reserved way rather than as a showcase.

There is a personal thread running through the song. Kazu took their artist name from a late bandmate, and the opening progression references the first piece of music that bandmate ever shared with them. Lyrically, the song reflects on time, loss, and how relationships shift as life moves on. The pre-chorus was shaped in part by a question Jane Lui once posted online “What is time?” which helped frame the song’s central idea.

Everything was recorded in home studios, without a single shared physical space. That process suited the intention behind the track. “Times of Love” is meant to feel human and lasting, built around real performances rather than heavy production choices.
