KER
Wōndering on Giants
Wōndering on Giants is the new single from Edinburgh-born songwriter and guitarist Ker, released ahead of his forthcoming album Converging Paths. The song was written for a local folk club in Scotland as a way of introducing original material, drawing on time spent hill walking in the Highlands as well as earlier experiences among the crags of north-west Montana. Those landscapes shaped his relationship with music, and the single reflects that influence without leaning into the more familiar nature-based clichés. Instead, the writing aims for something more reflective and outward looking, without pushing into grandiosity.
The track features the full band with lyrics, rhythm and lead guitars, and vocals by Ker, with Pete Fairbairn on keys and bass, and Ross Mackenzie on drums. It was first recorded by newly qualified engineer Andrew Entwistle in North Berwick, before being mixed and mastered by Jamie Graham at The Washoose Studio, known for its association with John Martyn.

Wōndering on Giants is one of twelve tracks recorded for Converging Paths. Ker describes the wider album as distinctive in sound and theme, influenced partly by the creative period between the mid-1960s and mid-1970s, when lyrics and melody carried weight and listeners invested time in the music. That era remains a reference point for him, both for those who lived through it and for younger listeners discovering it years later.
Ker's inviting vocals and stunning guitar work that cuts through from time to time with a luscious tone which all work really well together and keeps your ears wanting to come back for more. With a rhythm that adds a real toe-tapabilty to Wōndering on Giants, there is every reason to have the track on repeat until Ker's next release which is expected soon so keep your eyes peeled.
