KILLING KIND
Being Human

Picture
Swedish trio Killing Kind return with Being Human, a record that feels like it’s been biding its time before being unleased on the world. It’s been a strange few years for Killing Kind. What started as a side project in lockdown has grown into something far more defined and darker. 'Being Human' feels like taking a step further into the shadows. Following their 2023 debut, this second album digs deeper into the band’s mix of post-punk, synth pop and gothic atmosphere but this time the edges are sharper and the mood darker.

Recorded at Stockholm’s Sunlight Studio with Tomas Skogsberg, best known for his work with Entombed and Dismember, the album carries that same sense of weight. This is emphasised by the drums and the textures coming from the synths, backed up by Björn Norberg’s vocals giving the album a unique, rich sound.

Across eleven tracks 'Being Human' moves through themes of exhaustion, fear, and survival. The lyrics draw from old sci-fi and horror, it’s like those stories have become reality almost. Guest musicians, including Cecilia Germain and Lidija Radmilac, help broaden the sound by adding small moments of warmth to the cold.

The first single, “Desperately Holding On”, hinted at the direction early on, melodic but uneasy, it is a track that sticks around in your head long after the music finishes.

For a band that started almost by accident, Killing Kind have built something pretty special and with their new album 'Being Human' they have done a great job of documenting the chaos that surrounded it's creation.
