Where is more suitable for a heavy metal legend to play than a legendary heavy metal/rock bar in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, that's where. Luckily for the Geordie metal community, Blaze Bayley knew just the place, Trillians. The venue has played host to many a metal band over the decades and is still a venue that rocks hard.
Looking at the quiet exterior, you would be forgiven for thinking that it was just a normal Thursday evening, but venture through the front doors and down the stairs, and you are met with a room full to bursting of music fans waiting to see Blaze Bayley on his Circle of Stone tour.
It's been a hot minute since Blaze's last visit to the toon, and a lot has happened since then, both for Blaze personally and musically. It seems that Blaze is unstoppable, and with his health issues having been taken care of, he has put himself to work doing what he does best, making metal.

Blaze has Absolva and Pryma opening up on the tour with the support on this night provided by Pryma, a metal outfit from Kent. They played a blinder, with the Newcastle crowd seemingly loving what they were hearing. They loved their new song 'Mask', which is a proper belter with vocalist Gabrielle George's incredible voice ripping through Trillians, kicking off proceedings on a high for a night of metal that everyone in the room will remember.
After a short pause in proceedings to allow for a set change, the stage was soon set for the man of the moment, Blaze Bayley, to rock the toon. It took no time at all to get the room moving as Blaze kicked off with 'Alive' from his album 'The Night That Will Not Die'.
For a man that has been through so much in recent years, Blaze's voice is as powerful as it ever has been. His theatrical expression adds something very special to the gig. Blaze's connection with his audience is still strong, and as he shouted, "Newcastle! We can live our dreams, I'm living my dream right here with you." The crowd definitely felt the same and reciprocated with loud cheers and throwing their hands in their.
Blaze powered his way through a set list that was packed with plenty of good stuff from his latest album 'Circle of Stone' as well as a good selection of songs from his time with Iron Maiden. If you had seen Blaze Bayley for the first time that night or were a harden fan, there was something for everyone in the well-curated list of songs.
Blaze has got to be one of the hardest working men in heavy metal; his passion for the music and his fans has seen him touring consistently, and at every show he takes his time to meet the fans in a free meet and greet. That just shows the integrity of the man who has given so much of himself to his fans, and the fans definitely appreciate it. It is that bond that keeps heavy metal alive.
A knockout show from a true metal master.
