In a cold dark industrial estate on the outskirts of Newcastle,  an army of metal fans descended in their droves to see British Lion perform with support from Tony Moore. You could easly miss the unassuming venue, mistaking the estate as nothing more than 'Wasteland' albeit for a glowing beacon of hope shining in the cold, crisp night air. That beacon is a geet big arrow with the word BEER illuminated with lights, a welcome sight indeed.

The venue was fairly packed already by the time Tony Moore took to the stage. Tony was part of the original Iron Maiden line-up and his friendship with Steve Harris has continued to thrive since those early days,  with Steve producing Tony's recent album 'Awake'.

Tony's  set was an eclectic mix of theatrics with graphics on the backdrop behind him, which he interacted with throughout the one man show. His showmanship and vocals were on point and definitely entertained the crowd while spreading his message of "Love". A heart warming and very artistic opening act.
There was a short break as even more fans crammed in to the room, and before long it was time for headliners British Lion to take to the stage.  Steve Harris is best known as founder and bass player for British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, one of the most influential band in heavy metal. Playing to sold out arenas around the world, and celebrating 50 years of metal, Steve still looks at home on the more intimate stage at Anarchy Brewery.

Kicking off with 'This Is My God' the band all looked and sounded great. They were bouncing off of the energy from the crowd and they looked to be loving every second. They played a good mix of tracks from their two albums including 'Judas' from their debut self titled album and 'Father Lucifer' from their 2024 release 'The Burning'.

Despite the weather the fans were on top form as well, the cold outside certainly didn't dampen their spirits, and as the night went on, the beer was flowing and heads were banging to some incredible heavy metal.

Being able to get so close to a musical legend, one who would usually be so far from the crowd on a massive stage, was a great experience.  There was no airs and graces as Steve maybe the "big name" on stage but it felt like each band member was just as important as the next with the whole band playing their hearts out and giving everything to the fans.

They certainly rocked my ruddy socks off that's for sure. Overall it was a fantastic experience and one that I am sure everyone there will remember for all the right reasons.
