LIVING COLOUR
RIVERSIDE - NEWCASTLE - 24/07/24
Legendary American rock outfit, Living Colour paid a visit to Newcastle recently and we were there to capture the show. Known for their own unique style and energy, Living Colour have been an instrumental part of the music scene since the early 1980s. Their music blends the boundaries of many musical genres, from funk and rock to metal and blues, creating a sound that is as captivating as it is distinctive.
The night started off with a high energy guitar infused set from Jared James Nichols. He put his all in to getting the crowd warmed up for Living Colour, with his trusty Gibson Les Paul, flowing locks and a charismatic smile, Jared James Nichols really connected with the crowd who had a blast and were rocking hard.

After a very quick set change, Living Colour made their way to the stage to huge cheers from the crowd as the band walked on one by one with guitarist, Vernon Reid closely followed by drummer Will Calhoun, bassist Doug Wimbish and last but by no means least, frontman Corey Glover.
They played a wide variety of their best know tracks kicking off with 'Leave It Alone, Middle Man and Bi. The band's loyal fanbase knew exactly what the were getting in to when they bought their tickets, and they were not left wanting. With funky bass lines and stunningly intricate guitar work Vernon and Doug gave their all as they hit the strings with Corey's powerful voice still hitting as hard as it always has. Will's reassuringly powerful drum work kept the beat going through out the night.
Each band member instinctively knows what the other is doing and they play in perfect synch which is a joy to witness. Masters at their craft but still playing with a passion and enthusiasm which is incredibly infectious.
No Living Colour show who be complete without a rendition of White Lines (Don't Don't Do It) and Newcastle were treated to a great medley including Apache and The Message.
Ending the show with a cover of The Clash's Should I Stay or Should I Go after playing the band's biggest hit Cult of Personality, Living Colour left the Newcastle audience with a warm glow and positive vibes.
