Having been around for the best part of thirty years, it is about time Missouri alt-metallers Shaman's Harvest popped across the Atlantic to the UK and Ireland. Luckily for us, that is precisely what they did, visiting Newcastle along the way with Texas rockers Blacktop Mojo coming along to keep the lads company on the "About Time" tour.
I rocked up to Anarchy Brewery with high expectations, and judging by the line of fans lining up at the door, I wasn't the only one. The venue was absolutely chock-a-block early on, with revellers taking full advantage of the food and drink that Anarchy Brewery had to offer as they waited for the openers to take to the stage.
Blacktop Mojo was the perfect opening act for this show. They connected with the crowd instantly and had them singing along in no time. The band are not only awesome musicians; they are definitely not afraid to connect with the crowd. At one point, having them sing along to an acoustic version of Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight', with the audience vocalising that iconic drum fill. Honestly, one of the finest opening acts I have seen.

By the time headliners Shaman's Harvest made an appearance, the entire venue was a hive of energy; you could feel the buzz in the room. The crowd came for a good time, and that is exactly what they got. The band certainly wasted no time in getting down to business, giving the toon a night of hard rocking, metal goodness. Blasting out 'The Come Up' and 'Dangerous'. The faces of the audience said it all; they were loving it, and rightly so. You would have been hard-pressed to find anyone partying as hard as the Shaman's Harvest crowd that night, and keeping the energy high with 'Country as F**k' about halfway through, the band and fans showed no signs of slowing down.
Leaving Anarchy Brewery on that crisp spring evening, it really felt like I had been rocked to my very core, and you know what? I would have done it all again. A cracking night of music that will be hard to beat; if you get the chance to see Blacktop Mojo and Shaman's Harvest live, don't hesitate; grab your ticket and get your dancing shoes on.
