LIVE REVIEW
THE ROYSTON CLUB
NEWCASTLE
The Royston Club rolled into O2 City Hall Newcastle as part of their huge headline tour in support of their new album 'Songs For The Spine', bringing a packed crowd and a storm of energy with them. The venue was packed, the air thick with excitement and the hum of conversation as fans filled out the room waiting for the band to take to the stage.
The night began early with the first of two support acts, Arkayla, taking to the stage at 7:15 and did a cracking job of getting the crowd going before giving way for the second act of the night. The remarkably animated FEET didn't waste any time making sure that the City Hall was jumping. There was a real buzz of anticipation as they brought their epic set to a close. As the house lights dimmed that anticipation turned to a roar as chants of “Royston, Royston, Royston” echoed throughout City Hall.

As the band walked out to greet the Newcastle crowd, from my spot in front of the stage I felt the wave of excitement from the crowd filling the whole place with cheers. Behind the band, the backdrop displayed the artwork from their new album, its bold design with the silhouette of a huge bull adding drama to an already charged setting.
Opening with ;The Patch Where Nothing Grows', the royston club set the pace for a relentless and confident performance. 'Mrs Narcissistic' stood out with its acapella intro, while favourites like 'Crowbar' and 'Mariana' kept the crowd moving throughout. Every note the band played was met with a wave of voices, the audience fully locked in from start to finish.
There was a real sense of connection in the room, the band feeding off the energy of the crowd and giving it straight back with enthusiasm. The show closed with Cariad, an emotional and powerful moment that summed up the night perfectly.
As the final notes rang out and the band took their bow, the applause was deafening. The Royston Club left the stage looking every bit a group on the rise, and Newcastle made sure they knew it. A hot, loud, and unforgettable night of live music.
