Scottish alt rockers Vukovi returned to Newcastle last week as part of their latest UK headline tour, a run that sees the band stepping firmly into their own space after years of steadily building momentum on the live circuit.

The night opened with Yorkshire's very own Flesh Planet, who had already drawn a noticeable crowd by the time they hit the stage. According to Music News Monthly photographer James Robinson, people had arrived early specifically to catch them, and the response was immediate. There was plenty of movement from the off, with heads banging, bodies moving, and an energy in the room that showed this wasn’t just another warm up act.
London rock outfit Saint Agnes followed and continued to push that momentum further. Their set leaned heavily into the high energy delivery they are known for, with strong crowd engagement straight away. Robinson noted that the band’s lead singer was at the barricade during the very first song, which set the tone early and kept the audience involved throughout. The physicality of the performance mirrored the crowd’s energy.
By the time Vukovi took the stage, the atmosphere was well and truly hyped. Robinson described a relentless level of energy, with frontwoman Janine repeatedly heading to the barricade two or three times in quick succession. The band’s chemistry was obvious, feeding directly into the crowd and lifting the room higher with each track. A mosh pit quickly formed, driven as much by the band’s presence as by the audience’s readiness to let loose and rock out, needless to say that mosh pit was in full swing before long.

Robinson noted Janine’s visible excitement at being back in Newcastle, particularly on a tour where Vukovi are the headliners. That connection between band and crowd felt genuine, and that added to the energy in the room.

There is still time to catch the band live as  tour continues throughout February with the final show in Manchester on the 18th.  Find out more at  vukovi.uk
